Joel Castaneda
EVP/Chief Risk Officer
Joel serves as the Chief Risk Officer for Vantage Bank Texas and leads the Enterprise Risk Management function and oversees teams that manage Compliance, BSA/AML/OFAC, Third Party & Technology Risk Management, and Cyber Security. He supports the strategic direction of Vantage Bank by ensuring processes to identify, measure, and monitor the bank’s risk position to maintain safe and sound banking operations. Joel has served in banking and/or banking risk management roles since 2007. Prior to joining Vantage Bank Texas as the Chief Risk Officer, he was a Risk Management Director at USAA where he specialized in operational risk management. In this role, he conducted independent risk oversight of various operational risk disciplines and functional areas for USAA FSB. Prior to this Joel held various leadership roles including Credit Risk, Lending Operations, and BSA/AML at a community bank in Texas. He began his career at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) as an Associate National Bank Examiner performing safety and soundness exams of community banks.
