Thomas Grottke, CPA

Mr. Grottke has over 37 years of professional experience working in the banking industry as an advisor and auditor. Mr. Grottke is the CEO of The NBS Group, LLC. Previously he led Crowe’s US Financial Services Consulting Performance Improvement practice delivering strategy, technology, and operational consulting services. The NBS Group was acquired by Crowe in June 2018 and was spun back off to The NBS Group in April of 2023. The practice focuses on community and smaller regional based financial institutions (FI), and provides consulting services to dozens of FI annually. Prior to starting his own practice in 2002, he was the Lead Advsiory Services Partner/Executive on numerous of banks, thrifts, credit unions, and investment services companies with his previous employers KPMG LLP (1995 – 2002) and Arthur Andersen & Co. (1985 – 1995). Tom’s most senior positions with his previous employers were an Advisory Services Partner at KPMG and Senior Manager at AA&Co.

Mr. Grottke has published numerous articles, been quoted often by industry press, and spoken many times over the last 30 years on FI technology planning, strategy, performance, and other industry topics. He has been a speaker for RMA, FMS, ABA, BankDirector, and the Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut state banking associations. He has been a keynote speaker with bank technology providers Abrigo, COCC, nContract, Open Solutions (acquired by Fiserv), and at a regional Fiserv conference. He also has spoken multiple times to classes at UCONN, Clemson University, Bryant University, and Southern, Eastern and Central Connecticut State Universities.
