The 2026 Abrigo Loan Review Survey brings together perspectives from 124 loan review professionals at financial institutions ranging from around $500 million to more than $100 billion in assets. The results point to a few changes worth paying attention to.
Senior staff made up 42.5% of the average team this year, up from 35.2% in 2025.
74.4% are using, exploring, or planning to use AI. 23.1% are already using an AI solution.
4.6 files per reviewer per week in automated software-partner shops, compared with 3.6 in manual shops.

Teams are a little larger, with a higher mix of senior staff and a smaller share of junior staff. Senior staff salaries are also on the rise. Taken together, those shifts suggest that many institutions are leaning more heavily on experienced reviewers as portfolios and expectations grow more complex.
